Unfortunately, I too had terrible reactions to BE. The color match was absolutely perfect for my skin, but I live in the south and it is warm here. Any minimal sweating just makes me want to wash all of it off immediately due to the stinging. It is most uncomfortable. I appreciate the referrals to other products that do not have bismuth oxychloride in them. I really like the feel of mineral makeup and hope to find one that doesn't sting. I wish I would have seen this website a while back instead of struggling with the bare minerals foundation.

I used to have rosasea and acne. During my worst time I was looking for alternatives to cover up my skin. I tried BM, and another that is sold in doctors offices (also a mineral product). BareMinerals had that perfect matching color so difficult to get, it also covered my Rosasea pretty well and my acne pretty well (not that it covered it completely, but it looked very nice). After a month or so I had to stop using it because it was not helping my acne and sometimes (not all the time) I had the rosasea really bad on my cheeks (by the way my rosasea started after using Proactive for 5 months, and it has also caused the same reaction to some people in my family). Anyway I had to give it away but will always say that if you don't have much of a problem skin this would be one of the best choices for beautiful looking makeup. Now I use MAC which has work for me very well, yet I know is full of chemicals but apparently they don't react with my skin.

I am 28 years old, with good skin - it is sensitive and I get sunburned easily. My aunt and cousin, and my best friend all use BM and have for years. On their recommendations I tried it out and loved the product. I loved it so much I drove to a boutique and bought the starter kits for face and eyes. At firest I liked how soft my face felt, the coverage (I don't like wearing makeup, so BM was perfect) and the fact that my skin looked very smooth and clear.
Within 2 days my forehead started getting tons of little tiny bumps on it. My whole face started burning/itching and my eyes hurt. The tiny bumps turned red and continued spreading down my face, all the way onto my neck & onto the top of my chest. My fiance freaked out, and we spent 2 days looking online and calling doctors because he was worried I was having an outbreak of adult measles, as that was what it looked like when comparing my rash to pictures online.
I only used BM for 4 days, and this was the reaction my skin had. I did not ever put the makeup on my neck or chest, and I can only explain my rash spreading down that far by how the powder falls off the brush, or from the lotion primer stuff (I can't remember the name of it as I only used it for 4 days).
It has been almost 10 days since I stopped using BM and my face & neck are barely starting to clear up. The tiny bumps (which were so thick on my forehead, next to my ears and on my eyelids that it looked like oatmeal or something!) are finally fading, and are now flaking and falling off like dandruff all over my clothes. I have washed my pillow cases 3 times already!
It is incredibly disgusting, and I have pretty much been a shut-in because I am so embarassed about how my face looks.
And to top it all off, at the time I went to the boutique I had to justify buying the stuff to my fiance, and now he is smugly 'lecturing' me on how I don't need makeup anyway, so why did I spend so much on stuff that made me break out?!
So, I know that for some people BM works wonderfully (my cousin and best friend have been using it for upwards of 3 years) but I would caution people to try it out first. It can go TERRIBLY TERRIBLY wrong if they have a reaction to it.
Upon doing some research it really makes me angry how the company goes on and on about the wonderful, all natural ingredients and how great it is for everyone and it's apparent that there are quite a few people who can't use it. Seems a bit dicey to me...

I was referred to this product by a friend. I am 26years, fair complexion with good skin (but for the odd blemish around ladies week) This product is fantastic, it covered a healing blemish perfectly, I am prone to shine on my T-zone, but BE disguised it wonderfully and lit up my eyes as well. I have combination skin but I can see that this product wouldn't exactly suit someone who has dry skin, or is prone to dry skin.
I love the feeling that I am wearing no make up at all. You look healthy and glow after the application of 'clear radiance' (which was included in the fair complexion kit) OVERALL - recommend that you at least try it, go to a local outlet and talk to one the make up counter specialists, where hopefully you can test the product.

i bought the started kit after friends telling me how great it is... went home and applied it and BAM! I was red as a fire engine! My whole face felt like I had sunburn. I removed it, but my face was still bright red for a good 8 hours afterwards. I don't reccommend this if you have fair skin and sensitive skin. For example, if you have used or need to use hypoallergenic foundations like me, this is a no-go!

I love the ease of this makeup but like others that have posted, I have broken out so bad I think they are scarring. Never had cystic acne in the past and now I do after using BE. I have been told I have Rosacea before but now I can see it. My face burns, is all dried out and looks older than dirt. I have aged with this makeup and am throwing it away.

I'm 45 and really not one to wear make up all the time. However, five years ago I dicovered BE on TV. I have used it ever since. I only apply it when I go somewhere special. It's light and looks very smoothe. As with anything, it's probably not for everybody.

Ive been wearing bare minerals for almost a year now and I cant lie it does work most of the time. With the good there is also bad. It seems since I started wearing it I have went from almost no acne to a pretty good amount. Also when I have it on after wearing it for a while my face starts to itch and it does start to feel like I have a "mask" on my face. The second I get home I take it off. So like I said it does work most of the time but also can cause more problems.

I am new to Bare Minerals, and I really love it. I love that it makes my looks like I have beautiful, glowing skin and not like I am wearing makeup. I never could find a proper shade for my pale skin before (always dealt with "the line") but this blends in perfectly, and doesn't make me look dry like every other powder has. I wear contacts, and have had no issues with it irritating my eyes either. I love this product, my husbad compliments my skin often now, which is great. It's a shame it doesn't work this well for everyone, but I would definitely recommend that you give it a shot. QVC has great deals and will refund your money if you don't like it.

this product completely destroyed my skin. i have never had cystic acne in my life and have never had such horrible breakouts until using this product. so pure you can sleep in it, my A$#!!!! I agree with ever person in this forum who said stray away from Bare Minerals if you have sensitive or acne prone skin! I am over it and on my way to treating scars caused by this product.

bare minerals looks great and the ingredients are some of the most impeccable to be found in a foundation/powder. unfortunately the molecules in mineral makeup are so small, (which in turn create the flawless, perfectly even finish everyone desires) that they fall directly into your pores, as opposed to a liquid, which has larger molecules and sits on the skin as a barrier from the outside world. bare minerals, like many other mineral brands, eventually will clog your pores and create mild to severe breakouts and milia (blemishes beneath the skin that create small bumps). i am an esthetician and i am constantly removing mineral makeup from my clients' skin during facial and extracting treaments and after they see what has come out of their skin, they swear to never use mineral makeup again.

I tried bare minerals and liked it at first. But after a while I noticed my skin started to itch and I was still breaking out. And interestingly enough they advertise the foundation as being natural, but they don't tell you about the setting powder that everyone uses with it. The setting powder has talc, which is toxic and bismuth oxychloride is can cause irritation and break outs. I use Cleure Mineral Make-up, no talc, no bismuth oxycholride, just minerals: www.cleure.com/kacey

I bought the complete Bare Minerals kit after my sister had been using it for a year with glowing results. Her makeup always looked soft and fresh and I was willing to blow $60 to achieve the same results of a lightweight makeup that advertised itself as being 'so pure you can sleep in it'. Ha. The first few days I wore Bare Minerals were fine. I was impressed with how lightweight the minerals actually felt on my face (it was as if I wasn't wearing makeup at all!) and the even coverage achieved as well as its ability to cover up under eyes circles and discolourations. However, by the end of the week, I could see the toll this product was taking on my skin. The minerals seemed to find every crease on my face, ageing me by about 10 years! It also caused my skin to both dry and flake AND break out. I am not pleased at all with this makeup. The results were superb for my sister, but this formula was definitely not designed for people with sensitive skin. They should really change their marketing slogan because it's very deceiving. There goes $60...

I absolutely love this makeup! I have very sensitive skin and this stuff didnt irritate it at all contrary to what other have said. With other powder foundations and many liquid foundations, my skin would get an unever color and look very blotchy. But this foundation was amazing, my face looked like it actually matched my neck!

I too have been an Estee Lauder liquid foundation user for years. My niece uses the powder foundation and thought I would try it to keep up with the times...big mistake. I now breakout w/ blackheads on my checks of all places. It's back the ole timey stuff.

This came highly recommended and I really wanted it to work. Three days later I am itchy and have really huge breakouts on my face. Bare Minerals will be packed up and returned to the store tomorrow.

I just got Bare Minerals a week ago and I'm not as happy as I thought I would be, I really wanted to like BE because of everything it claimed to do. I have normal skin, and after applying 20 mins later my face felt like it was going to crack with every facial movement I made, I've tried putting on more face cream it seemed to help a little, although it does NOT last all day. As for the coverage they claim you'll get, I didn't find it covered well at all, I'm not sure how people with rosacia, acne etc, find they are getting any coverage. I have freckels and like them covered, BE claims it coveres and yet still I see every one. You have to put LOTS on to get any kind of coverage at all. I am a make up guru and still find that liquid has a better coverage although doesn't last all day either. If someone out there has any tips I'd love to hear how you make it work as I love the though of minerals compared to liquid, maybe I am doing something wrong (swirl, tap and buff...) what am I missing

You know, it's funny, the description says that it's "suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive skin"...But lo and behold, I have terribly sensitive skin, and get terribly large areas of sweatbump acne and blackheads from the traditional liquid/powder makeups. However, when I used the BM, I found that my skin would burn as if I put rubbing alcohol on it. I'm young but my skin's as dry as a woman twice my age with dry skin (I'm 21) and truthfully I've had better luck with the traditional makeup than with BM. Sadly though it's hard to match a shade as pale as I am, so I stuck with it. What I found later was that I couldn't wear makeup to work. My whole face burned. It was like I scrubbed my face and put a cheap, scented lotion on it (yall know that tingle/burn of the alcohol in it, as it sinks in?) rather than "natural minerals". I keep hearing it's the "bismuth oxychloride" or whatever it's called...I'm waiting on a shipment from another company that is MUCH more affordable, the set is larger, and right on the page where I ordered it, the ingredients are listed for me to see. I would suggest looking up "bare minerals" on eBay and seeing what you find, ladies, because believe me, the i.d. BareMinerals isn't as good for your skin as they say it is.

I had great skin with few breakouts. BM burned the first time I put it on, but I figured I'd give it a try so I did for about a week. It looked great and I got many complements, but it did accentuate the dry spots and made them worse. like another said, i didn't really NEED makeup in the first place, but wearing BM made my skin break out and therefore I DID need makeup and it became an endless cycle. I haven't been using it for about 2 months now and I still have acne problems around my chin. Do NOT recommend to fair complexions. My mother on the other hand loves it.

I'm so pissed off with BM's false advertising that I'm seriously considering filing a lawsuit. I've never had such serious break-outs on my skin until I started to use BM. "100% natural" my ...! They FAIL to tell you about Bismuth Oxychloride which is "kin to ARSENIC, chemically." This product gets negative stars in my book, but I can't post this unless I put at least one. Ladies, BEWARE.

I am so glad that I checked out these reviews first before buying. It is upsetting that they claim to be "all natural" however I challenge you to find the ingredients in BM anywhere. If they are so "all natural" you would think they would put a list of ingredients right there for the world to see!!! They are hiding something and in my opinion its the fact that there are things in this makeup that can and does cause serious problems for some people. And if I were one of those people I would stand up and say something!! Get your money back at least. We have voices and we need to use them this is your health we are talking about. I didnt even buy it and I have already sent a complaint email regarding this issue.

I am answering a review that was written by Nicole, the 14 year old with questions about Bare Minerals. It will cover your acne, although not completely. The major downside is if your skin is like mine, your acne may get drastically worse. I recommend you try Signature Minerals. After my bare minerals disaster, Sig cleared up my face in about two weeks. You can order free samples from Sig too to find your correct foundation shade. The samples are very generous, should you will be able to use it for awhile before buying. The best part is the price (about half as much as BE). Highly recommend this line! Good luck :)

I used Bare Minerals and loved the look - and I'm over 50 - but the itch drove me crazy. I found out later it was from the bismuth oxychoride. Also the kabuki brush that came with the kit was uncomfortable to use. It felt soft to the touch of my hand, but to my face it felt like being stabbed with tiny pins. I've never read a complaint about the brush before and wonder if my skin is just sensitive to pressure.
