Based on Steve Martin's best-selling novella, "'Shopgirl' is a funny and poignant story of love in the modern age. The film catches a glimpse inside the lives of three very different people on diverse paths, but all in search of the same thing.

Kudos to both Clare Danes and Jason Schwarzman who have mastered the ability to look both vile and beautiful within the span of a movie, and still keep us on their side. As for Mr. Martin: not. so. much. I felt I was taking a trip through Steve's Fantasyland--but that's not what my ticket said! There was little to like about this movie. It moved slowly, the characters were dull, and, well, it just left me waiting for something more--anything more!
