Abstract: The yearning for adventure pulses strongly through me again...
This beautifully crafted movie stirs up feelings inside of me that I thought were gone forever.
Flying from coast to coast in jumbo jets stuffed into the belly of a monster flying machine with hundreds of other stinking humans does not make for as good a story as travelling across open roads on an old motorcycle with a best friend.
Gael García Bernal, who plays the title role of Che Guevara, is now a well known name even in many non-Spanish households, and should be on the to-do list of most of us. His portrayal of this start of the emotional "journey" that Che Guevara takes towards his final role as a Cuban militant is sensitive and heartfelt, you can really feel the reasons behind his choices later in life. If you're interested in his further exploits, may we suggest "Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life" available at Amazon.com
But in this reviewer's eye, Rodrigo De la Serna has the best role, playing sidekick, with all the best lines, and all the best antics. His actions are predictable in the way most men always are, but he pulls them off with such grace and innocence that he should boast a much greater success rate than most.
A wonderfully crafted movie, touching without resorting to old Hollywood techniques, shot in wonderful locations with care and skill, this is a great movie to pull out when one is feeling a little down and in need of some adventure.
