The beautiful Rachel McAdams shows her range in Red Eye, a thriller by Wes Craven. I wasn't sure what to expect from this film, given it's director, supernatural occurances crossed my mind, as well as the possibility of a big, lavish action-fest. What Red Eye delivers, though, is far more interesting and refreshing - a good, but simple plot, with some great understated moments.

McAdams is joined by Irish actor Cillian Murphy (sporting an American accent), who does a nice job as a hired gun whose job it is to manipulate McAdams' character Lisa Reisert, a hotel clerk, into helping him complete a deadly assignment. The most interesting moments in the movie don't involve chases sequences or gun battles, but the complex personal interplay of these two characters, occuring primarily aboard an airplane.

Upon leaving the theatre, my sister remarked that she didn't buy parts of the movie due to the lack of professional skills exhibited by the guy who was supposed to be a "super-expert assassin". I responded that I actually enjoyed the movie for this very anomaly - big-budget movies are crammed with heros and villans alike who seem to posses superhuman abilities, it was enjoyable to encounter a triggerman who actually seemed to have human traits.
