Wintery Glamor
Ready to cut a color swath through the winter greys? This glamorous look is anything but boring, and the perfect dramatic look for your New Year's party or swanky cocktail event.

Don't try to be the wallflower in this makeup, as you'll need to be prepared to brazen it out! A sensuous look, reminiscent of the rich warm hues of a renaissance painting.

1. Use a paddle eyeshadow brush and cover the entire lid with a frosty red-violet color shadow. This makeup should be layered slowly, and should be bold but soft.
2. If you are having trouble getting the color close to the lash line, use an angled brush to draw a line along the lash line and then blend together with shadow brush to get full coverage.
Tip Glitter eye shadow tends to break up and fly all over and is hard to get off. To remedy this, load loose powder (using a circular powder sponge) and add all the way around eye to catch all the glitter. Then it can be easily wiped away.

3. Using an angled eyebrow brush, draw in a gentle line under the eye.
4. This line should start from the outer corner and taper in. It should be defined but not too dark... we want a glamorous look, not a paint-by-number!

5. Use a shimmering gold shadow to add color to the inner corner of the eyes with an angled eyebrow brush.
6. Blend well.

7. With the square shader brush, use a shimmery cream colored shadow to add a dab of color to the brow bone, just underneath arch of eyebrow.
8. Blend very well.
9. Apply a coat of black mascara.
Tip Use Maybelline Lash Discovery to apply mascara to the bottom lashes. The wand is very small and helps define the smaller lashes.

10. Lightly moisturize lips.
11. Fill in lips completely with a natural color lip pencil.
12. With a lip brush, apply a generous amount of a sparkly cranberry colored lip gloss.

To finish the look...
13. Define the eyebrows by using a angled brush to add an eyeshadow color that is slightly darker than your own.
14. Apply a small dusting of a very natural blush on the apples of the cheeks. The emphasis is on the eyes and lips!
Tip A fool proof way to apply blush to the cheek is to smile and then dust the apples of the cheeks.

The look will require careful accessorizing and wardrobe choices. Black or white clothing will go beautifully; take it easy on color. Keep accessories to a minimum, perhaps just a few classically simple pieces. Try your hair in a sleek, elegant style without too much in the way of crazy ringlets or large hair accessories.

The eyes and the lips will provide all the drama of this look, so keep the focus on them. Those with a lot of red in their complexion might want to pass on this look, or be sure to apply foundation carefully and thoroughly.
