WINTER BLUES
I’d planned on properly enjoying my holiday parties and dinners and drinks and appetizers and… basically all yummy winter food - pout! Need we now worry about our holiday season induced expanded tushies, extra-luscious thighs, and more voluptuous tummies when it comes to this trend?
You certainly don’t have to be Kate Moss to don the skinny jeans hot right now, but you can’t go hog-wild on the red and green M&M’s either - maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. The challenge of fitting into our winter jeans will perhaps keep us from letting ourselves go such that the impending bikini season sends us to Weight Watchers instead of simply increasing the time we spend on the treadmill.
SLEEK SKINNIES
Pretty much anything goes when it comes to washes on your fave pair of ‘drainpipes’. Dark, bleached-out, distressed, worn or detailed are all part of the popular wash repertoire – traditional “Levi’s” denim wash being the least common. Pocket styles are varied as well, barring the ‘no pocket’ look: cargo pockets on the back and regular on the front, regular on the back and business-pant slashes on the front, and many more. Cargos are especially nice on those of lacking volume in the buttocks region while slash front are great for flattening tummies but may cause the illusion of wider hips. Jane Magazine said, “these skinny pants look especially sleek if you’re short and have a butt”.
HOW TO WEAR ‘EM
Tuck your skinnies into wide-heeled boots and throw on an argyle sweater for a trendy, casual look or pair them with peep-toed heels and a low-cut Grecian style top for understated evening fabulousness.
Find many versions of this hot trend at: Miss Sixty, Levi’s, French Connection, and Guess. Fornarina, Gsus, Gas, and D-Squared all make hot skinnies that are carried in indie boutiques in most cities.
That’s the skinny on this trend, ladies. Now go out and squeeze those lovely figures into some skinnies!
