What’s up with these East-Indies inspired slip-ons that everyone from twelve-year-old hipsters to seventy year old grannies are wearing? They’re the biggest fad not to hit fashion magazines!

SEQUIN STORY
At first, these stylish slippers were found only in East Indian, Asian and dollar stores. Then they moved on to lower-end independent shops and inexpensive chain shops like Suzy Shier, Claire’s and Payless. Recently though, these lovelies have been spotted in stores such as Aldo, Le Chateau, Town Shoes, Banana Republic, piles of cool indie shops, and even Holt Renfrew.

If you haven’t grabbed a pair yet, I suggest snagging one of the fall versions - a full heeled shoe, as opposed to summer’s mule. Heck, go ahead and grab a summer mule as well, they’re on sale now and I predict they’ll be at least popular (if not still very trendy) through the next spring/summer season.

VERSATILITY AND CHARM
Compared to the de rigeur flip-flop, these sequined mules ooze versatility. While the former are almost always only worn with casual, summer outfits; mules can “go there” and much more. They can be worn with semi-business attire, semi-dressy outfits, casual pantsuits, and during both the spring and fall seasons. Wearing complementary patterns with mules is great, but steer clear of outfits with too much sequin detail to avoid a sequin overdose. You can always pick up the irresistible sequin detailing and/or heavy patterning in your accompanying bag.

BLISTERS BE GONE
Another bonus these slippers offer is that most find they trump flip flops in the ultra-comfy department. Some gals with sensitive footies (like myself) find that the thong part of flip flops can rub, chafe and otherwise be mean to our tender tootsies.

So, ladies, don’t be mule-ish except when it comes to your new sequined slippers!
