| Pink 'n Pretty |
| Well, surprise, surprise: pink is in… still. I thought that pink had had its hey-day last spring and summer and would be soooo overdone that winter wouldn’t even show signs of a fuchsia holiday dress. I hate being wrong. Granted, some designers don’t want anything to do with it, but many are fully loaded with pink… everything. |

NOT ALL PINK IS CREATED EQUAL
It seems that every shade of pink is still popular. Fuchsia seems to be the big push, but pale pink and candy pink are very much alive and kicking. So, you ladies with a lot of blue in your skin, stick to paler pinks and away from the fuchsias. Pale women should avoid too pale a pink as it can wash you out. You ladies of color are lucky this season as you can wear pretty much any shade of pink, so go crazy.
PINK POSSIBILITIES
Here are my (possibly too safe, you decide… ) ideas on how to make pink work in this winter fashion season. Despite Guess, Gucci, and Escada’s big push for all over pink, I would keep it as an accent item: pink silk blouses with a flared grey skirt, a big bag and belt to set off an all black outfit, a pink tweed blazer with indigo jeans and deep brown accessories, baby pink round toed pumps with matching bag to complement tan tweed pants and cream cardigan, pink pin-striping on a suit, etc.
ALL COATED IN PINK
A really important pink piece this season is the coat. Single breasted, trench, high necked tweed, double breasted pea coat: they’re everywhere and fairly versatile. You’d be safe with pinks for party dresses, but be careful with the paler pinks as you might look like you’re still wearing pieces from your spring wardrobe. Avoid pink pants or skirts, just to be on the safe side.
Jewelry is a great way to throw some pink into your ensemble: especially broaches.
LOCAL PINK
On my travels through my local stores, I only saw smatterings of pink. However, it’s all over the magazines so I’ll give you a few names of stores and designers to check out: Jax, Banana Republic, Aldo, Mac and Jac, XOXO, Fossil, Armani, Baby Phat, Ann Taylor; and, of course, Guess, Gucci, and Escada. I haven’t been in French Connection UK (FCUK) lately, but knowing their penchant for color, I would bet that they’re rife with pink.
It’s a happy, fun color; so, if you’re not tired of it from last season, get tickled pink again.
