Classic Lines
By Karen Deuitch
Elegant clean lines combined with a vintage flair are what I noticed about Jayne's ensemble when I spotted her at an art and design bookstore.

Being a fashion historian/clothing and bag designer, Jayne is a very well rounded fashionista. She mixes her classic style with fun accessories and colour. She describes her own style as “vintage-inspired”, mixing this with her personal creations and her love of a well tailored skirt.

Favorite Designers
Jayne’s influences are as varied as they are interesting. She cites Claire McCardell, the early American sportswear/practical wear designer as an inspiration. She also admires the architectural simplicity of forties Spanish designer of Cristóbal Balenciaga, an eveningwear expert. Jayne looks to the photographs of the thirties and forties fashion photographer Louise Dahl-Wolfe for her classic and subtle representations of women and glamour.

Black "Twinkle Toes" fitted knee high boots with two inch heel

Robot Bracelet (Butterfield 8) and Swiss Army watch

Jayne is a recovering tomboy whose blooming interest in fashion stems from a fine arts background. She puts her own personal mark on all her clothes, making many of them with her excellent sewing skills. Jayne and a friend of hers have even ventured into marketing their own hand-crafted handbags. Her future plans include studying fashion restoration, but for now I bumped into her at the art and design bookstore where she currently works.
